As the school year is winding up I keep thinking back to how I got here. Who influenced me and Why I chose this path (or rather how did I stumble upon God's path for me).
It keeps coming back to one person really. My mother. She has probably been the biggest influence in my life. She is a complete and a wonderful role model in all her different roles: a woman of God, a working mother, a loving wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend.
Why do I admire her so much? She went back to school in 2011 (RN to BSN program). She has been working while in school and running a house. She has shown me the meaning of working as a Christian rather than having two separate identities. She doesn't necessarily come out in her jobs and say that she is Christian, but she does so in her thoughts and interactions. She cares for everyone and that is what makes her a wonderful nurse and role model.
Yeah, sure, we have our differences but even in those differences I look to her for guidance (even though I'll never admit it). I love my mother because she has raised me to be independent and choose my own path. I could have chosen to go into any career but I chose to follow her and become a nurse. She never once pushed me to go into the medical field; instead, she gave me a whole host of opportunities to explore new things. My mother truly is the best.
Who has been your role model? A sister, brother, dad, mom, grandma, friend, teacher?
I challenge you to truly sit down and think through it.
Honestly,
Katherine Ellen
